Writing this from my desk on a very dark and rainy day, I wish we could just jump into summer and that makes me think of no other place than my favourite island, Mallorca. While many dream of the Maldives, Caribbean Islands, and other exotic places, I wouldn't trade Mallorca for any of those. And if you ask me, it is really mandatory to visit Formentor while in the Balearic Island.
There is no excuse, even if you are in the capital or south of the island I tell you it's going to take maximum 1h by car even if you are in the other side of the island.
Believe me the 18km ride is totally worth it. After lots of curves, tunnels, cliffs, dangerous paths… you get to see hell of a breathtaking view in Formentor, Mallorca. Its 400m high cliffs, sheer drops and deep blue waters are happiness and mindfulness itself (in spite of the wind..uu.. don’t worry we all look like Pocahontas jumping off the cliff up there).
The viewpoint is probably my fav in Mallorca, and after taking pictures or just enjoying being up there, you can go to the beach which is my all time favourite beach, no competitors when it comes to Formentor. This beautiful large white sand beach with azure waters is big enough and not crowded so you can really spend an entire day and not get enough of it, since you can soak up the sun, enjoy the crystal waters and sleep under the trees with that constant summer breeze. Hmmm just thinking about it makes me wanna step into summer already and jump into a plane direction PMI.
Ouuu of course to make it even more Mediterranean there is a lighthouse, how lovely is that? You can sit on the terrace of the cafe while still getting a tan and enjoying an iced tea/coffee. For those of you who are thinking about a Mediterranean destination, if Mallorca is on your list you know you cannot skip this place.
We first went up to see the views and of course take thousands of pictures because you know, every year the scenery is the same but your outfits change a lot (luckily) and you tan too. After fighting the wind and going upstairs we went downstairs to the best beach Mallorca has (sorry Es Trenc, not even close!).
After deciding which spot to take, what the best tree is, where you get the best breeze, less people around, close to the water but not too close, etc. etc. etc. It was time to get into the crystal clear water and really you can walk and walk and the water does not even cover your neck. Lucky me :)
Told you this is the best place to spend a whole day, since you have calm and great places under the tree to take a nap, read a book, or just have a drink/snack without having to be super close to the water. When I had enough water for the day I just put some clothes on, and...siesta!
Ladies as you can see my summer paradise is only less than an hour away by plane. How lucky am I?
Which is your favourite summer place to disconnect from the busy city life?
